Kings' Fox: COVID-19 'hit me like a truck'

Sacramento Kings point guard De'Aaron Fox confirmed he and his fiancee, Recee Caldwell, suffered through a bout of COVID-19, explaining why the fourth-year star has been out of action since April 21.

"(It) hit me like a truck," Fox said, according to Sports Illustrated's Howard Beck. The Kentucky product added that he and Caldwell both suffered from "headaches, body aches, chills, and dehydration" but said he and Caldwell have both recovered and are feeling fine.

NBA teams are not permitted to reveal an employee's positive test result without individual consent, as per federal HIPAA regulations. Players across the league like Fox, Boston Celtics All-Star Jayson Tatum, and Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns have publicly discussed their struggles with the coronavirus, while other players suspected to have contracted it have remained silent.

Fox has returned to Sacramento's bench, though the 23-year-old has yet to be cleared for game action. Fox is averaging a career-best 25.2 points in 58 outings this season for the 30-38 Kings.
