Kevin Durant said the Boston Celtics fan who threw a water bottle at Brooklyn Nets teammate Kyrie Irving following Sunday's contest at TD Garden needs to "grow the f--- up."

"I know that being in the house for a year-and-a-half with the pandemic got a lot of people on edge, got a lot of people stressed out, but when you come to these games, you got to realize these men are human," Durant said after Brooklyn's 141-126 Game 4 victory in Boston.

"We're not animals, we're not in the circus," Durant continued.

"Your mother wouldn't be proud of you throwing water bottles at basketball players or spitting on players or tossing popcorn. Grow the f--- up and enjoy the game."

A water bottle thrown by a spectator nearly hit Irving as he headed down the tunnel. Fans booed him prior to the contest, which was the former Celtics guard's first game back in Boston in front of a capacity crowd following COVID-19 restrictions being lifted in Massachusetts.

TD Garden stated one individual was arrested for throwing an object and is subject to a lifetime ban.

It's the latest in a line of fan-related incidents to occur during these NBA playoffs. Washington Wizards guard Russell Westbrook had popcorn thrown at him by a fan in Philadelphia on Wednesday, and teammate Bradley Beal claimed another 76ers fan said something "crazy" near his family. A Knicks fan spit on Atlanta Hawks sharpshooter Trae Young in New York, while three Utah Jazz fans directed racist and vulgar language at the family of Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant in Salt Lake City.

All guilty parties from Wednesday's incidents have been permanently banned.
