Team USA's Grant enters health and safety protocols
Team USA forward Jerami Grant has entered health and safety protocols at the U.S.'s pre-Olympic training camp in Las Vegas "out of an abundance of caution," USA Basketball announced Thursday.
The news comes on the same day the U.S. national team ruled out Bradley Beal for the upcoming men's basketball tournament in Tokyo due to protocols.
Team USA is scheduled to fly to Tokyo on July 19 for the men's basketball tournament, which is set to kick off July 24.
It's unclear if Grant will be cleared to travel with the team or if the U.S. will need to name a replacement.
Grant, 27, is coming off a breakout campaign with the Detroit Pistons. A finalist for the Most Improved Player of the Year, he averaged a career-best 22.3 points per game in 54 outings.
Team USA is also currently without Devin Booker, Jrue Holiday, and Khris Middleton, as they're participating in the NBA Finals. They'll join the team following the end of their series.
