The Brooklyn Nets have signed Kevin Durant to a multi-year contract extension, the team confirmed Sunday.

Durant, who previously declined his 2022-23 player option, will earn $198 million over the four-year extension, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. He's set to make $42 million for the 2021-22 season, the last year of his previous contract.

"Kevin is a transcendent talent who continues to drive and push this franchise and the game of basketball globally," Nets general manager Sean Marks said.

Marks added: "His unparalleled drive and leadership generate sustained excellence from himself while also elevating the performance of his teammates, positioning this organization to continue the pursuit of our championship goals in Brooklyn."

Durant is entering his third campaign with the Nets after missing the entirety of the 2019-20 season due to an Achilles tear.

The 32-year-old appeared in only 35 regular-season outings during the 2020-21 campaign due to COVID-19 protocols and a recurring hamstring injury.

However, Durant averaged 34.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 12 playoff contests, including a 49-point, 17-rebound, 10-assist triple-double in 48 minutes during a victory over the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The 11-time All-Star is fresh off a stellar display at the Tokyo Olympics, guiding Team USA to a gold medal, his third straight with the program.
