"Man, it's amazing," Paul told TNT's Allie LaForce postgame. "My family's here - my dad, who put the ball in my hands when I first started. I'm playing against New Orleans, where it all started for me. That city will always be my family. That's my brother, (Pelicans head coach) Willie Green. It's an honor and a privilege, and I'm grateful that, thank God, I still get a chance to play."
Paul has personified consistency throughout his 17-year NBA career. He went into Tuesday's contest averaging 18.3 points, 9.4 assists, and 2.1 steals across 1,095 NBA games spent between the Suns, New Orleans Hornets, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, and Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Point God is also a five-time assists champion, six-time steals champion, 10-time All-NBAer, nine-time All-Defensive selection, and member of the NBA's 75th-anniversary team. Paul recently became the first player in league history to record over 20,000 points and 10,000 assists in his career.
In addition to his place among the greatest distributors of all time, Paul has amassed the fifth-most steals in league history (2,343 entering Tuesday's game).
