Report: Durant expected to miss All-Star Game

Injured Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant is expected to remain sidelined beyond next month's All-Star Weekend, sources told Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.

Durant, 33, sprained his left MCL during a game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Jan. 15.

Brooklyn did not release an estimated timetable for Durant's recovery, but initial reports suggested he'd miss four-to-six weeks, which would have allowed for the possibility of his participation in the All-Star Game on Feb. 20 in Cleveland.

Durant is currently in the running to captain a team at All-Star Weekend. In the last update of fan balloting before the captains and starters are revealed Jan. 27, he held a slim lead over Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo for most All-Star votes among Eastern Conference players.

The 11-time All-Star averaged a league-leading 29.3 points per game on 52% shooting prior to the injury. The Nets are 24-12 (.667) when he plays but just 5-6 (.455) without him.
