Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James missed Monday's 117-110 loss to the San Antonio Spurs due to knee soreness.

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel is hopeful James will play Wednesday against the Houston Rockets, per ESPN's Dave McMenamin. The bench boss added that it's the same knee that kept James sidelined for five games earlier this season, according to The Athletic's Bill Oram.

"The soreness today was significant enough to hold him out," Vogel said, per Ryan Ward of Lakers Nation.

James is coming off a season-best 56-point performance against the Golden State Warriors over the weekend. The 37-year-old is averaging 29.4 points, 8.1 boards, 6.2 assists, and 1.5 steals over 46 appearances this campaign.

Los Angeles sits ninth in the West with a 28-35 record entering Monday's slate of games.
