Warriors' Wiseman out for season due to lingering knee injury
Golden State Warriors big man James Wiseman will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign as he continues rehabbing his injured right knee, the team announced Friday.
Wiseman has yet to suit up for the Warriors this season after undergoing surgery on a torn meniscus last April. The former No. 2 pick had another procedure on his knee in December, but there are no plans for more surgery.
"We've maintained throughout his entire rehabilitation process that we're going to be patient and look out for James' best interests in what we anticipate to be a long and successful career," Warriors president of basketball operations Bob Myers said in a statement. "As a 20-year-old, his entire career is ahead of him."
Wiseman played two games for the G League's Santa Cruz Warriors earlier this month. However, he was shut down after experiencing swelling in his knee.
Wiseman showed some promise during his rookie campaign, averaging 11.5 points, 5.8 boards, and 0.9 blocks over 39 appearances in 2020-21.
