Lakers drop to 0-4, LeBron's worst start since rookie year
The Los Angeles Lakers' disastrous start continued Wednesday as the club fell to 0-4 with a 110-99 loss to the Denver Nuggets.
This marks the first time a LeBron James-led team has failed to win at least one of its first four games since his rookie campaign in 2003-04. The Lakers last started 0-4 in 2015-16.
Los Angeles made only 8-of-30 attempts from downtown against Denver and is now 33-of-148 from three on the season. The team's 22.3% 3-point mark is the worst by any club over a four-game span among teams that have attempted at least 125 triples, according to ESPN Stats & Info.
"It's a new system. It's a new group of guys together," James told reporters, including The Associated Press' Pat Graham. "We're still trying to get familiar with one another."
James finished with 19 points on 8-of-21 shooting but led all players with eight turnovers. Meanwhile, Anthony Davis had 22 points, 14 boards, five assists, three steals, and two blocks.
Russell Westbrook sat out Wednesday's contest with a hamstring injury.
Nuggets star Nikola Jokic had a dominant performance, posting 31 points, 13 boards, nine assists, and four steals. The two-time reigning MVP was among five Denver players to score double digits.
