Report: Kyrie must complete list of tasks before rejoining Nets
The Brooklyn Nets have issued Kyrie Irving a list of tasks to complete before he can rejoin the team, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Irving must apologize for sharing a link to a movie that contained antisemitic tropes and condemn the content of that film, Charania reports.
The All-Star guard will need to donate $500,000 to anti-hate causes as agreed upon in the joint statement by Irving, the Nets, and the Anti-Defamation League.
Irving is also being asked to complete a sensitivity and antisemitic/anti-hate training program created by the team, adds Charania.
The former No. 1 overall pick was reportedly told to meet with representatives from the Anti-Defamation League as well as Jewish community leaders in Brooklyn.
Once Irving has done all the aforementioned tasks, he'll need to meet with Nets owner Joe Tsai, demonstrate what he has learned, and provide assurance that he won't repeat his actions.
Brooklyn suspended Irving for at least five games after he failed to disavow antisemitism. Former teammate LeBron James and Washington Wizards forward Deni Avdija have since criticized Irving for his actions. Meanwhile, Nike has suspended its relationship with Irving and announced that it won't release his upcoming signature shoe.
