The Detroit Pistons fear that rising star Cade Cunningham has sustained a stress fracture in his injured left shin and expect him to remain out indefinitely as he weighs all options, including surgery, sources told The Athletic's James L. Edwards III and Shams Charania.

Cunningham, 21, was originally slated to miss four games due to shin soreness. The injury apparently dates back to his rookie campaign and resurfaced during the offseason.

The 2021 No. 1 overall pick is averaging 19.9 points, 6.2 boards, and six assists over 12 appearances during the 2022-23 campaign.

Detroit has dropped five straight contests with Cunningham on the shelf and six overall. The Pistons enter Saturday with a league-worst 3-14 record.
