Giannis has clean MRI for back injury, reportedly dealing with wrist issue
The Milwaukee Bucks received some good news regarding Giannis Antetokounmpo's recent injury scare.
Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer told reporters Monday that the two-time MVP had a clean MRI after sustaining a back contusion in Sunday's Game 1 loss to the Miami Heat, according to The Athletic's Eric Nehm.
The 28-year-old suffered the ailment in a first-quarter collision with Kevin Love. He briefly returned in the following quarter before exiting the game for good.
Antetokounmpo is believed to be battling a pain-tolerance issue in his lower back while simultaneously dealing with a ligament issue in his wrist, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Antetokounmpo underwent back X-rays after the series opener, which Budenholzer also said came back clear. He added that the Bucks are monitoring Antetokounmpo ahead of Game 2.
"I would say he's still sore, but I think (there's) progress. He's getting some treatment, and I think we'll just continue to monitor him ... for the next day or two," he said. "Probably fortunate that (we have) two days between games, so I think still mostly positive, mostly optimistic. But we'll see how he feels over the next day or two."
Game 2 is Wednesday at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
