CP3 day-to-day with groin injury, reportedly out at least 1 week
The Phoenix Suns listed guard Chris Paul as day-to-day with a left groin strain Tuesday.
He's expected to miss at least one week after sustaining the injury in Game 2 against the Denver Nuggets, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The Suns are preparing to be without Paul until a potential Game 6, adds Charania.
Paul has battled injuries in the postseason throughout his career. During the 2021 playoffs, he played through a shoulder contusion he originally suffered in the Suns' first postseason contest that year.
The veteran floor general also fractured his right hand in Game 4 of the Los Angeles Clippers' opening-round matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers in 2016 and sat out the remainder of the postseason.
Paul has also missed extended time in each of the past two regular seasons.
He averaged 12.4 points, 7.4 assists, five boards, and 1.7 steals through Phoenix's first seven playoff contests.
Devin Booker will likely handle primary ball-handling duties with Paul sidelined. Reserve guard Cameron Payne should also see an uptick in minutes.
Phoenix trails the second-round series 2-0 heading into Friday's Game 3 matchup at the Footprint Center.
