Strus agrees to 4-year, $63M sign-and-trade with Cavs
Ex-Miami Heat sharpshooter Max Strus agreed to a four-year, $63-million sign-and-trade deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, his agent told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Miami will receive a second-round pick, while the San Antonio Spurs acquire Cedi Osman, Lamar Stevens, and a second-rounder as part of a three-team deal.
Strus developed into an integral part of the Heat's rotation after going undrafted in 2019. The DePaul product averaged 11.5 points, 3.2 boards, and 2.1 assists over 80 appearances last season.
Strus should bolster the Cavs' outside shooting, which ranked 19th in the Association during the 2022-23 campaign at 11.6 triples per game. He made 37.6% of his threes over the previous two seasons.
Cleveland also added stretch-four Georges Niang and re-signed Caris LeVert on the opening day of free agency.
Osman averaged 8.7 points and shot 37.2% from deep last season. He's entering the final year of a four-year, $31.1-million contract. Stevens registered 5.3 points per contest and started 25 games for Cleveland in 2022-23.
