Report: Wizards' Shamet, Gafford to miss 2-4 weeks
Washington Wizards guard Landry Shamet is expected to miss two-to-four weeks after breaking his big toe, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Center Daniel Gafford will also be sidelined for the same duration due to an elbow injury sustained during a recent pickup game, The Athletic's Josh Robbins reports.
Washington acquired Shamet from the Phoenix Suns this offseason in the Chris Paul blockbuster deal. It will be his fifth NBA stop in six seasons. The 26-year-old is expected to play a key role on the Wizards' second unit.
Shamet averaged 8.7 points, 2.3 assists, and 1.7 boards over 40 appearances during the 2022-23 campaign. He's a career 38.8% 3-point shooter and should help a Washington team that ranked 21st last season with 11.3 threes per game.
Gafford registered nine points, 5.6 boards, and 1.3 blocks per contest across 78 appearances in 2022-23. He finished ninth in the Association in block percentage (5.2%).
