Report: Warriors' Payton sidelined indefinitely with torn calf

Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II is out indefinitely after suffering a torn right calf, a source told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Payton left Tuesday's game against the Sacramento Kings late in the third quarter with an apparent leg injury and didn't return. Golden State blew a thrilling 24-point lead in the contest to lose to the Kings.

This is Payton's second stint with the Warriors. The 30-year-old guard returned to the Bay Area in 2022-23 after appearing in only 15 games for the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Warriors considered filing a grievance against the Trail Blazers for not disclosing an abdominal injury that would keep Payton out for his first 20 games back with the club.

The Warriors guard is averaging 5.9 points and 3.1 rebounds through 14 contests off the bench this season.
