Grizzlies' Bane out at least 6 weeks with ankle sprain
Memphis Grizzlies wing Desmond Bane will miss at least six weeks after sustaining a Grade 3 left ankle sprain in the third quarter of Friday's contest against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Grizzlies announced Sunday.
Bane already missed Saturday's game versus the New York Knicks.
The TCU product has been a bright spot for Memphis, averaging a career-high 24.4 points, 5.3 assists, 4.6 boards, and one steal over 37 appearances this season. He ranks fifth in the Association with 123 triples.
Memphis inked Bane to a five-year, $207-million max contract extension this past offseason.
Second-year forward Jake LaRavia will also miss at least three weeks due to a Grade 2 high left ankle sprain.
The Grizzlies are currently dealing with a number of injuries.
Ja Morant was already ruled out for the remainder of the campaign after undergoing shoulder surgery, while Marcus Smart is sidelined for at least six weeks due to a finger injury.
Also, starting center Jaren Jackson Jr. missed last Saturday's game due to a knee ailment.
Memphis is 5.5 games back of the final play-in tournament spot in the West.
