76ers sign former 1st-rounder Kai Jones to 10-day contract
The Philadelphia 76ers signed 2021 first-round pick Kai Jones to a 10-day contract, the team announced Friday.
The Charlotte Hornets released the 6-foot-11 center in October, and he hasn't made an appearance this season.
Before the 2023-24 campaign, Charlotte ruled Jones out of training camp for "personal reasons" and gave no timetable for his return. The decision came shortly after Jones displayed bizarre behavior on social media.
Jones asserted that he was better than teammates LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller. In a separate post, Jones claimed he could beat LeBron James in a one-on-one matchup.
Jones went 19th overall to the Hornets following a pair of seasons at Texas. As a sophomore, he earned Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year honors.
Jones hasn't made much of an impact during his short time in the Association, averaging 2.7 points and two rebounds over 67 career appearances.
However, the 23-year-old recently suited up for the Bahamian national team, tallying 13.5 points and eight rebounds per contest across a pair of FIBA AmeriCup qualifiers.
