Klay bashes Rockets' Eason for anti-Warriors shirt
Houston Rockets wing Tari Eason's choice of attire while on the bench Thursday didn't impress Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson.
During Houston's 133-110 loss, Eason wore a T-shirt that said, "Warriors come out to play," a reference to the 1979 film "The Warriors."
"That's pretty lame, especially if you're not even playing," Thompson told reporters postgame, including ESPN's Kendra Andrews. "It's one thing if you are out there playing, out there competing, and you can back it up. But you're just going to be trolling from the sideline? What are you doing?"
Eason hasn't played since Jan. 1 due to a benign growth on his leg that required surgery. He reportedly left Thursday's game shirtless and wearing a vest.
Thompson started for the third straight contest, going 11-of-15 from the field and scoring 29 points in the victory.
Unlike his teammate, forward Draymond Green said he enjoyed Eason's shirt but added, "If you're going to say that, you got to play," per Green.
Golden State has a four-game cushion ahead of Houston for the No. 10 seed and final play-in spot in the Western Conference. Both teams have six regular-season contests remaining.
For the Rockets to have a chance at making the postseason, they must win five of their final six games and hope the Warriors lose their remaining contests.
Golden State is riding a six-game winning streak as it makes a final push to secure a playoff spot.
"It's a matter of us maintaining this momentum because, more than likely, it's going to be you have to play one game to stay alive," Warriors star Steph Curry said, per Andrews. "(We have to) keep our focus on what we've been doing because the results have been able to show we're locked in and motivated."
Both squads play Friday, with the Warriors traveling to Dallas to take on the Mavericks and the Rockets hosting the Miami Heat.
