Report: Cavs get permission to interview Heat's Quinn, Knicks' Bryant
The Cleveland Cavaliers received permission to interview the Miami Heat's Chris Quinn and the New York Knicks' Johnnie Bryant for their head coaching vacancy, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Quinn is Erik Spoelstra's top assistant in Miami. The former NBAer has spent the last decade working under the longtime Heat head coach and has reportedly garnered interest from other teams over the previous few years.
Before joining Spoelstra's staff, Quinn was an assistant for Northwestern during the 2013-14 campaign. It was his first coaching position following a six-year NBA career between four clubs, including the Heat.
Bryant has been the Knicks' associate head coach since 2020. He has ties with Cavs star Donovan Mitchell dating to their time with the Utah Jazz, where Bryant was an assistant for six seasons.
Cleveland fired head coach J.B. Bickerstaff earlier in May following the team's second-round playoff exit.
The Cavs have also apparently been allowed to speak with Golden State Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson and New Orleans Pelicans associate coach James Borrego for their job opening.
