Report: Kings looking to add DeRozan through sign-and-trade
The Sacramento Kings have talked to the Chicago Bulls about acquiring veteran forward DeMar DeRozan via sign-and-trade, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on "SportsCenter."
The trade would require a third team as the Bulls are not interested in receiving a player with a significant salary. DeRozan is looking to make $20 million to $25 million per year, according to Wojnarowski.
The Kings would likely have to include one of Harrison Barnes or Kevin Huerter in the trade to create cap space for DeRozan.
In his third season with Chicago, DeRozan averaged 24 points, 5.3 assists, and 4.3 rebounds in 79 games. The Bulls missed out on the playoffs for the second straight campaign, losing in the play-in tournament.
The Bulls seem to be focusing on a youth movement, as they traded guard Alex Caruso, who received All-Defensive second-team honors, to the Oklahoma City Thunder for 21-year-old wing Josh Giddey in June.
The Kings didn't make the postseason either after finishing 46-36 this past campaign. The New Orleans Pelicans eliminated them in the play-in tournament to clinch the No. 8 seed, just one campaign removed from Sacramento's first playoff berth since 2006.
