76ers' Drummond: 'I'm the best rebounder to ever play'
Philadelphia 76ers big man Andre Drummond has an undeniable belief about his presence on the boards.
"I'm the best rebounder to ever play the game," Drummond said during the team's media day Monday. "I'm here to just do one job and just help this team."
The Sixers signed Drummond to a two-year, $10-million deal this summer. He previously played for the franchise during the 2021-22 season, averaging 6.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per game before being moved to the Brooklyn Nets in the James Harden trade.
The 31-year-old came off the bench for the Chicago Bulls last campaign, bringing down nine rebounds in 17 minutes of action per game. He ranked 14th in the NBA in total boards with 708 in a reserve role.
Drummond's best rebounding seasons came when he was with the Detroit Pistons. He led the NBA in rebounds per game in 2015-16 (14.8), 2017-18 (16), 2018-19 (15.6), and 2019-2020 (15.2) where he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers midway through the season.
However, he ranks 36th on the all-time total rebounding list with 10,501 over his 12-season career, according to Basketball Reference. Wilt Chamberlain ranks first with 23,924 career boards.
