Report: Knicks, Thibodeau agree on 3-year extension

The New York Knicks and head coach Tom Thibodeau have agreed on a three-year extension through the 2027-28 season, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The two-time NBA Coach of the Year has led the Knicks to the Eastern Conference semifinals in each of the last two seasons after joining the organization ahead of the shortened 2020-21 campaign.

Thibodeau's extension marks the latest move in a busy summer for the Knicks. The team has signed All-Star guard Jalen Brunson to a team-friendly four-year, $156.5-million extension and re-signed forward OG Anunoby to a five-year, $212.5-million deal.

New York also landed Mikal Bridges in a three-team trade with the Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets in exchange for Bojan Bogdanovic, guard Shake Milton, and several future first-round picks.

Thibodeau's tenure with the Knicks is his third permanent head coaching job in the NBA following spells with the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves.
