Kerr: Poole incident was time I was 'most angry' at Draymond
Draymond Green is no stranger to controversy, but one incident stands out the most for Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.
Asked Tuesday on "The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz" when he was the most angry with Green, Kerr pointed to the time the veteran forward punched then-teammate Jordan Poole during a preseason practice in 2022.
"For sure, the Jordan Poole incident," Kerr said. "Draymond and I are a lot alike in many ways. People probably wouldn't see that from the outside, but we're both kind of maniacal competitors, and we've lost our minds with each other during games over whatever - disagreements about strategy. But he crossed the line with Jordan, and he knows it. He knew it immediately, and it made that season incredibly difficult for everybody.
"That story has been regurgitated many times, but that's probably the time I was most angry."
Following the incident, the Warriors fined Green but did not suspend him. However, he chose to step away from the team temporarily, saying he would continue to work on himself and give his teammates space.
Golden State finished the 2022-23 season with a 44-38 record, eventually losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference semifinals.
