Klay Thompson battled some nerves in his preseason debut with the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night.

Following the Mavs' 107-102 loss to the Utah Jazz, Thompson admitted it was the most nervous he had felt for a game since his first NBA championship run with the Golden State Warriors.

"I haven't been that nervous, I don't think, since the 2015 Finals, Game 1," he said, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon. "It felt so good just to go out there and play and work those jitters out. It was a new experience, and it's a natural feeling when you've been somewhere so long and to be somewhere new in a new environment. To finally put the uniform on, it felt amazing."

Thompson finished the game with 10 points and three assists while going 3-of-5 from deep in 18 minutes.

"I'm just excited to experience a new chapter," the 34-year-old said. "It's going to be special. I just know it."

Thompson spent his first 13 seasons with the Warriors before being traded to the Mavs in July. He'll face his former team for the first time on Nov. 12.
