Report: Fox waiting until 2025 offseason to ink extension with Kings
Kings star De'Aaron Fox will wait until the 2025 offseason to sign a max deal with Sacramento, reports ESPN's Shams Charania.
Fox is currently eligible for a three-year, $165-million max contract. However, the point guard could sign for as much as $229 million over four years next summer.
Those figures could rise to $345 million over five years if Fox makes an All-NBA team this season, Charania notes. He's set to become a free agent in 2026.
Fox has vocalized publicly and privately that he wants to be a major part of Sacramento's future, Charania adds. He and other Kings players have been reportedly consulted on key offseason decisions, including the sign-and-trade for six-time All-Star DeMar DeRozan.
Fox has played his entire seven-year career with the Kings. He's averaged 21.2 points, 6.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds. Fox also led the Association with two steals per game last campaign.
The Kings finished ninth in the Western Conference last season with a 46-36 record. They lost to the New Orleans Pelicans in the play-in game.
Sacramento will kick off its regular season Oct. 24 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
