Cleveland Cavaliers wing Max Strus will miss at least six weeks after sustaining a sprained ankle during an individual workout Thursday, the team announced Saturday.
Strus previously suffered a right hip contusion and missed the team's last three preseason contests.
The 28-year-old averaged a career-high 12.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and four assists during his first campaign with the Cavaliers.
Strus spent three seasons with the Miami Heat before joining the Cavaliers on a four-year, $63-million contract last summer.
Cleveland went 48-34 last season and made the Eastern Conference semifinals before losing in five games to the eventual-champion Boston Celtics.
The Cavs open the season on the road against the Toronto Raptors on Oct. 23.
