Pacers' Wiseman exits season opener after noncontact calf injury
Pacers center James Wiseman left Indiana's season opener Wednesday against the Detroit Pistons with a left calf injury and did not return.
The big man appeared to suffer the injury at the end of the first quarter after attempting a triple. Wiseman turned to run back on defense before looking down and grabbing his left leg. Teammates helped the 2020 No. 2 pick off the floor.
James Wiseman now back in the locker room with the medical staff after non-contact injury in Detroit.

Looked at his left foot/calf like someone hit it after a 3-point attempt, which is immediate concern for an Achilles.

Head coach Rick Carlisle said postgame that Wiseman will receive an MRI on Thursday to determine the severity of the injury, according to Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files.
Wiseman was making his Pacers debut. He tallied six points and one rebound in only four minutes. The Pacers won 115-109 thanks to a 20-point performance from center Myles Turner.
Wiseman, 23, signed a two-year, $4.7-million deal with Indiana over the summer. The contract includes a team option for 2025-26.
Indiana will take on the New York Knicks on Friday.
