Pelicans' Murray out indefinitely after fracturing hand
New Orleans Pelicans guard Dejounte Murray is out indefinitely after sustaining a fractured left hand during Wednesday's season-opening win over the Chicago Bulls, the team announced Thursday.
Murray tallied 14 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds during his 29 minutes of action against the Bulls.
The 28-year-old made his Pelicans debut after arriving in a trade from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Larry Nance Jr., Dyson Daniels, and two first-round picks.
The Washington product spent the last two seasons with the Hawks. He averaged 22.5 points, 6.4 assists, and 5.3 rebounds for Atlanta during the 2023-24 campaign.
The Pelicans were also missing star forward Zion Williamson on Wednesday due to illness.
New Orleans is scheduled to play two consecutive games in Portland against the Trail Blazers on Friday and Sunday.
