New Orleans Pelicans guard Dejounte Murray sustained a fractured left hand during the team's season-opening win over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, sources told Shams Charania of ESPN.

He is expected to miss an extended period of time.

Murray tallied 14 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds during his 29 minutes of action against the Bulls.

Murray, 28, was making his Pelicans debut after arriving in a trade from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Larry Nance Jr., Dyson Daniels, and two first-round picks.

The Washington product had spent the last two seasons with the Hawks. He averaged 22.5 points, 6.4 assists, and 5.3 rebounds for Atlanta during the 2023-24 campaign.

The Pelicans were also missing star forward Zion Williamson on Wednesday night due to illness.

New Orleans is scheduled to play two consecutive games in Portland against the Trail Blazers on Friday and Sunday.
