Indiana Pacers center James Wiseman tore his Achilles tendon in Wednesday's season opener, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.

The big man will work with the Pacers organization to determine the appropriate treatment, Charania adds.

Wiseman, a former No. 2 pick, suffered a noncontact injury at the end of the first quarter as he made his Pacers debut against the Detroit Pistons. He turned to run down the court before looking down and grabbing his left leg. He did not return to the game.

Wiseman recorded six points and one rebound in 4 minutes.

The 23-year-old inked a two-year, $4.7-million deal with Indiana over the summer that includes a team option for 2025-26.

The Pacers signed the Memphis product to fill Jalen Smith's former role as backup center after Smith joined the Chicago Bulls in the offseason. Myles Turner is the only other center on Indiana's roster.
