Report: Morant returning vs. Blazers after 8-game absence
Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant will return to the lineup Monday against the Portland Trail Blazers, sources told NBA insider Chris Haynes.
Morant missed the past eight games due to a hip and pelvis injury. The Grizzlies went 5-3.
He's officially listed as questionable on the team's latest injury report.
Scotty Pippen Jr. did an admirable job filling in for Morant at the point, averaging 13.8 points, 5.4 assists, 4.3 boards, and 1.1 steals across eight starts.
Morant was averaging 20.6 points, 9.1 assists, and five boards prior to being sidelined. However, the two-time All-Star was shooting a career-worst 25.8% from deep and 44.8% overall.
Memphis sits seventh in the West with a 10-7 record entering Monday's slate of games.
The Grizzlies remain in the NBA's top 10 for both offensive and defensive efficiency despite the absence of Morant and other key pieces.
