Report: Kings close to signing Jae Crowder
The Sacramento Kings are closing in on a deal with free-agent forward Jae Crowder, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
Crowder played 50 games with the Milwaukee Bucks last season, averaging 6.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists.
The Kings have struggled out of the gate, ranking 12th in the Western Conference with an 8-10 record. Over the last two contests, Sacramento's bench has been outscored 82-31 and ranks 28th in points per game, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.
Crowder has averaged 9.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and a steal over 12 NBA campaigns. He's made two trips to the Finals - as part of the Miami Heat in 2020 and with the Phoenix Suns in 2021.
The Kings added veteran players around De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis over the offseason - including six-time All-Star DeMar DeRozan and sharpshooter Doug McDermott.
DeRozan won't play Wednesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to back inflammation, and veteran big man Trey Lyles will be re-evaluated in three-to-four weeks due to a Grade 1 calf strain, the team announced, according to Brenden Nunes of Sactown Sports 1140.
