Brown expects to hear from NBA after throat-slashing gesture
Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown knows he'll be receiving a call from the NBA after making a throat-slashing gesture toward Isaiah Stewart during their 130-120 win against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night.
Brown drove into the paint at the end of the first quarter and put Stewart on a poster with an impressive two-handed slam. The 28-year-old then celebrated by simulating a knife across his throat with his thumb while staring at Stewart.
"I just (got) caught up in the moment, I guess," Brown said in his postgame press conference, courtesy of WEEI 93.7 FM's Justin Turpin. "I think that the NBA and the PA are sensitive about the gestures and things like that. So, you've gotta be mindful of that."
When asked if he expected to hear from the league about the incident, Brown responded: "Oh yeah."
The NBA punished NBA legend Dwyane Wade for making a similar gesture while he a member of the Chicago Bulls in 2016, fining the Hall of Famer $25,000.
Brown tallied 28 points, six rebounds, and nine assists as the Celtics captured their ninth win in 10 games.
Boston will host the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday.
