Warriors' Kuminga out at least 3 weeks with ankle sprain
Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga suffered an ankle sprain in Saturday's 121-113 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies and is expected to miss at least three weeks, the team announced Sunday.
"It's not going to be a day-to-day thing," Kerr said Saturday after the loss, per The Athletic's Anthony Slater.
Kuminga underwent an MRI to determine the injury's severity, according to Slater.
"JK has been playing the best basketball of his career," Kerr said, per Slater. "We're going to miss him. But Kyle (Anderson) will fill in well."
Kuminga suffered the injury toward the end of the first half after contesting a layup from Grizzlies forward Jake LaRavia. The Warriors ruled out Kuminga for the remainder of the contest after he recorded 13 points, two rebounds, and two assists in 15 minutes.
The Warriors were also without Steph Curry, who sat Saturday due to knee injury management.
Kuminga ranks second on the team in scoring with 16.9 points per game. He's played primarily off the bench, starting 10 out of 32 contests.
The 22-year-old is in the final season of his rookie contract. The Congolese forward couldn't agree to terms on an extension prior to the beginning of the season.
The Warriors improved to 18-16 with the victory. They face the Sacramento Kings on the second night of a back-to-back Sunday.
