Curry: Lingering thumb injury 'not an excuse' for scoreless half

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry was held scoreless in the second half of Saturday's 118-108 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Curry has been dealing with a right thumb injury but isn't blaming his cold-shooting night on the lingering issue.

"It sucks, but it's not an excuse for anything," Curry told reporters postgame, according to ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. "Got to play through it. I went 8-for-8 with it (against the Philadelphia 76ers). It's just something that has been lingering to the point that it gets hit every once in a while.

"It's one of those things, it is almost gone, and then it gets knocked again. I will deal with it, but it shouldn't bother me like it did tonight."

Curry finished Saturday's matchup with 13 points on 4-of-17 shooting - including a 2-of-9 clip from deep.

However, it hasn't been all that bad for the two-time MVP since being listed on the Warriors' Jan. 2 injury report with a thumb sprain.

Curry was averaging 24 points on 47.7% shooting over his last 10 appearances prior to Saturday's tilt. He's been sporting a wrap on his thumb for the past few weeks and doesn't plan to miss any time with Golden State entering a crucial point in its schedule.

"I think every time it gets hit, it's like a step-back," Curry said. "It's just annoying. Obviously, I am going to play through it, but I was joking with one of our doctors tonight, I didn't even want to mention it because it's like as soon as it gets 100%, it gets knocked again.

"Again, not an excuse. I try not to worry about (it) when I am out there, but hopefully it will clear up sooner than later."
