Report: Wizards, Bucks discussed Kuzma-Middleton trade
The Washington Wizards have explored a potential trade that would send forward Kyle Kuzma to the Milwaukee Bucks for veteran wing Khris Middleton and draft capital, sources told The Athletic's David Aldridge and Josh Robbins.
The Wizards are more willing to trade Kuzma now compared with 12 months ago, but his trade value is at its lowest since joining the franchise in 2021, sources told Aldridge and Robbins. The 29-year-old is averaging 15.2 points on career-low shooting from the field (42%), 3-point range (28.1%), and the free-throw line (60.2%).
Kuzma is taking 4.6 fewer shots than last season, as Jordan Poole and prospects such as Alex Sarr and Bilal Coulibaly receive increased offensive responsibility.
Middleton, 33, is averaging 12.6 points, his lowest mark since his sophomore campaign in 2013-14. The three-time All-Star has come off the bench in 16 of his 23 games. He underwent surgery on both ankles over the offseason.
The Bucks are reportedly open to trading Middleton, Bobby Portis, and Pat Connaughton for an impact player.
The Wizards are also expected to entertain trade offers for veterans Malcolm Brogdon, Richaun Holmes, and Marvin Bagley III.
Washington ranks last in the Eastern Conference with an 8-41 record. The Wizards face the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday.
