Suns keep Durant despite interest from multiple teams

The Phoenix Suns have informed all interested teams that the club won't be trading Kevin Durant.

Multiple teams made aggressive calls to the Suns for Durant leading up to Thursday's trade deadline, per ESPN's Shams Charania.

However, Phoenix ultimately decided to hang onto the 15-time All-Star.

The Golden State Warriors reportedly made a "strong pursuit" for Durant over the last week, adds Charania.

Durant was "blindsided" to be involved in any trade discussions, according to Charania. He also apparently expressed no desire for a second stint with the Warriors.

Durant continues to perform at a high level at age 36. The two-time Finals MVP is averaging 26.9 points, 6.1 boards, 4.2 assists, and 1.3 blocks across 39 appearances this season.

Durant is under contract through the 2025-26 campaign. Suns owner Mat Ishbia expressed his intentions to extend Durant earlier this season.

Durant is eligible for a two-year, $120-million maximum extension after the campaign.

Phoenix did complete one trade earlier Thursday, shipping disgruntled center Jusuf Nurkic and a 2026 first-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Cody Martin, Vasilije Micic, and a 2026 second-round pick.
