Butler: 'I don't have anything bad to say about' Heat
Jimmy Butler insists it's all love between him and the Miami Heat despite the rocky end to his tenure in South Beach.
The six-time All-Star told "The Kris Fade Show" on Wednesday that, while he expects his first game against the Heat as a member of the Golden State Warriors to be "personal," he still thinks fondly of his former team.
"I think it's a great feeling because you know everybody," Butler said of facing the Heat. "Just like I know their game, they know my game at the same rate. But it's all love. I've been in the trenches with Miami for the past six seasons and, like I tell everybody, the way that they want to beat me and make sure that they beat the Golden State Warriors, I promise you, it's just as personal for me as well.
"Love those guys over there. Great organization. It didn't end the way that everybody hoped that it would end, but that's just part of the business of basketball. I don't have anything bad to say about that organization."
The relationship between Butler and the Heat soured over his last few months in Miami, culminating in the organization suspending him three times in January.
The 35-year-old was dealt to the Warriors ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline as part of a five-team deal that included the Utah Jazz, Detroit Pistons, and Toronto Raptors.
The Warriors and Heat will meet for the first time since the trade on March 25 in Miami.
