Report: Giannis' future depends on Bucks' sustained success
Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo will look at other teams if he doesn't believe the Milwaukee Bucks are set up for "sustained, long-term winning," Shams Charania reported Thursday on ESPN's "Get Up."
Milwaukee ranks fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 29-24 record. The franchise swapped out veteran wing Khris Middleton for Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma prior to the trade deadline and acquired Kevin Porter Jr. and Jericho Sims in other deals.
Antetokounmpo, 30, is averaging 31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game this season.
Since winning the championship in 2021, the Bucks haven't made it past the second round of the playoffs. They lost back-to-back first round series, and Antetokounmpo missed all of the 2024 postseason due to a calf injury.
Antetokounmpo said in 2023 that he would leave the Bucks if there was a "better situation" for him to win another title.
The forward signed a three-year, $175.4-million extension in 2023. He holds a $62.8-million player option for the 2027-28 season.
