Knicks' Brunson hopes to return before postseason
New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson has been cleared for basketball activities and is hoping to be in the lineup before the playoffs begin, he told SNYtv's Ian Begley on Sunday.
Brunson has been out of the lineup since spraining his ankle in the Knicks' overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on March 6. New York initially announced that the injury would sideline him for about two weeks.
The two-time All-Star is averaging 26.3 points and 7.4 assists in 61 games for the Knicks this campaign. Brunson needs to appear in four more contests to qualify for postseason awards.
New York has gone 7-5 in the 12 games without its starting point guard.
The final day of the regular season is April 13, with Round 1 of the playoffs scheduled to begin April 19.
The Knicks sit third in the East with a 47-27 record.
