Report: Wizards acquire Rockets' Whitmore for pair of 2nd-rounders
The Washington Wizards acquired Cam Whitmore from the Houston Rockets for two second-round draft picks, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
The Wizards are sending a 2026 second-rounder via the Chicago Bulls and a 2029 second-rounder that originally belonged to the Sacramento Kings, according to The Athletic's Josh Robbins.
Houston selected Whitmore with the 20th pick in 2023 after he reportedly slid due to concerns about his medicals.
The Villanova product struggled to find consistent playing time during his Rockets tenure, but showed flashes of his potential.
Whitmore averaged 10.8 points and shot 35.7% from deep across 98 appearances in Houston.
The 6-foot-7 forward has two years remaining on his contract. Washington has until Oct. 31 to exercise Whitmore's club option for 2026-27.
