Wizards' Sarr out of EuroBasket, reportedly expected to be ready for season
Washington Wizards center Alex Sarr will miss the remainder of EuroBasket due to a calf injury, the tournament announced Tuesday.
Sarr won't undergo surgery and is expected to be ready for the start of the upcoming NBA season, a source told The Athletic's Josh Robbins.
The 7-footer averaged 9.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and one block in two EuroBasket appearances for France.
Washington selected Sarr with the No. 2 overall pick in last year's NBA draft. The 20-year-old showed some promise in his debut campaign, averaging 13 points, 6.5 boards, 2.4 assists, and 1.5 blocks across 67 appearances. He was the youngest player in franchise history to have a 30-point game.
Sarr finished fourth in NBA Rookie of the Year voting and was named to the All-Rookie first team.
