Clippers' Beal to undergo season-ending hip surgery
Los Angeles Clippers guard Bradley Beal will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a fracture in his hip, Beal's agent, Mark Bartelstein, told ESPN's Shams Charania.
"We met with numerous doctors and specialists around the country in collaboration with the entire Clippers medical staff over the last few days and came to the decision unanimously that the surgery will allow Brad to have a full and complete recovery," Bartelstein said, according to Charania.
Beal averaged 8.2 points per game in six appearances this season with the Clippers before the injury.
The 32-year-old joined L.A. on a two-year, $11-million deal in the offseason after being bought out by the Phoenix Suns. His contract includes a $5.62-million player option for next season.
Beal averaged 17 points per game with the Suns last campaign, shooting 38.6% from beyond the arc. A three-time All-Star during his heyday with the Washington Wizards, Beal has struggled to stay healthy in recent years, playing no more than 60 games in a season since 2018-19.
The Clippers are also without star Kawhi Leonard, who's missed the last four games with an ankle injury. He's expected to return soon, though.
