Boston Celtics center Nikola Vucevic is expected to miss approximately one month in order to undergo surgery for a fractured right ring finger, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
Vucevic sustained the injury in the first quarter of Friday's contest against the Dallas Mavericks and was promptly ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Boston acquired Vucevic from the Chicago Bulls at the trade deadline to give themselves more frontcourt depth behind Neemias Queta.
The veteran was averaging 11.4 points, 7.8 boards, and two assists across 11 appearances for the Celtics. He was also shooting 35.1% from deep.
Luka Garza is poised to step into Vucevic's role as the primary backup center.
