New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson plans to play in Game 1 of the NBA Finals next Wednesday after undergoing surgery to repair a broken pinky finger on his right hand, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.

Robinson, who suffered the injury earlier this week, will wear a brace on his right hand, Charania adds. It's unclear how Robinson suffered the injury.

The Knicks will face the winner of the Western Conference finals between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder, which is tied 3-3.

Besides starting center Karl-Anthony Towns, Robinson is the only 7-footer among the Knicks' playoff rotation. Their lone other 7-footer, second-year German big man Ariel Hukporti, has appeared in eight of New York's 14 postseason matchups, playing an average of 8.8 minutes.

In 13 playoff games, Robinson is averaging 5.3 points and 5.5 rebounds. His field-goal percentage (73.7%) leads all players this postseason, though the 28-year-old attempts fewer than three shots per game.
