New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown revealed center Mitchell Robinson's surprise broken finger didn't occur during a game or practice, according to The Athletic's Fred Katz.
However, when a reporter asked a follow-up question for details on how Robinson was injured, a Knicks media relations member said, "We're not going to get into specifics," Katz notes.
Reports surfaced Thursday that Robinson underwent surgery on a broken right pinky finger as the Knicks await the start of the NBA Finals. Despite the injury, Robinson reportedly plans to play in Game 1 with a brace on his hand.
Robinson is averaging 5.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in the playoffs, and his 73.7% field-goal percentage leads all players.
The NBA Finals are scheduled to begin June 3, with the Knicks starting the series on the road regardless of who advances out of the West. The San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder wrap up their conference finals with Game 7 in Oklahoma City on Saturday.
