If everything goes according to plan, unrestricted free-agent Vince Carter will be playing in Dallas next season.
The news comes as no surprise. By all accounts, the Mavericks like Carter, and vice-versa. Carter has previously stated that he only wants to go to a team with championship aspirations, which, depending on how their offseason shakes out, may very well describe the Mavericks' situation.
In three seasons in Dallas, Carter has enjoyed a late-career resurgence playing the role of sixth man. He averaged 11.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game last season. He still remains quite effective, even at the advanced basketball age of 37.
In addition to the Mavericks, the Toronto Raptors, Portland Trail Blazers, Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder are also said to be interested in Carter's services.
