LeBron on lack of dunks: 'I apologize I haven't been above the rim'
There are a lot of things people can point to that are wrong with the Cleveland Cavaliers right now. Apparently, a lack of dunks on the part of LeBron James is one of them.
James was asked about his lack of dunking on Monday - never mind that the team has been playing at a glacial pace, turning the ball over a ton, and generally being unable to defend - and expressed regret at his ground-based game.
"I apologize I haven't been above the rim," James said. "But I'm in the lineup. Whatever it takes to help us win."
Whether due to age, lingering discomfort in his back, the team's style of play or some mixture of factors, James has only dunked three times in five games. That should change as the offense improves, and as the defense gets better at forcing turnovers and letting James out in transition.
For the time being, though, the three dunks do stand out given his track record of high-flying.
It will be interesting to see if James takes flight against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday as a result of the extra attention given to his missing theatrics.
