Steph Curry: Daughter Riley helping with game prep, 'my biggest critic'
LeBron James Jr. needs to get into the film room if the Cleveland Cavaliers are going to keep pace with the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals arms race.
Warriors superstar and the league's Most Valuable Player, Steph Curry, has been getting some unexpected help in preparing for the biggest series of his life, courtesy of Riley Curry. Steph's two-year-old daughter and effectively the MVP of the playoffs so far - with apologies to fuddy-duddies everywhere - has been all over her dad's back to make sure he's on top of his game.
"She's breaking down film with me," Steph said Wednesday. "She's my biggest critic at home."
While those comments are in jest - it's unlikely Riley has developed the ability to discern defensive coverages, likely distracted by Iman Shumpert's hair - Steph was quite earnest about how Riley can help him through tough stretches.
"I rarely ever have a bad day, regardless of what happens on the court," Steph said. "They just give you something more than basketball to play and live for, and that's pretty special."
It sure sounds special. And that perspective could come in handy as Steph and the Warriors face an incredibly tough challenge in LeBron James and the Cavs. There's a good chance the Cavs take one or two games, and the benefit of space and levity could be the difference between managing the stress well or letting it begin to snowball.
And imagine Riley at an NBA Finals celebration presser? All of the "awws."
